Mandala Lab It is an interactive installation that invites you to inhabit emotions through space.
Conceived by The Rubin Museum of Art of New York Designed in collaboration with Ex-tudio and Enorme Studio, the installation takes visitors on an introspective journey where architecture, art, and technology integrate to spark connection, empathy, and sensory learning.
Mandala Lab proposes an architecture of feeling: a space where seeing, touching, smelling and breathing are part of a process of emotional exploration and shared wisdom.
The intervention is based on Translate Buddhist principles into active, accessible, and deeply meaningful spatial experiences.
Through five sensory stations—including video installations with aromas, collective breathing sculptures, and instruments immersed in water—an environment is created that guides visitors on a journey of self-discovery.
The spatial strategy responds to the need to activate emotional appeal in public spaces, offering a calm and reflective environment in the heart of the city.
Architecture thus becomes a catalyst for awareness., transforming emotions such as pride, anger or ignorance into tools of everyday wisdom.
Located in Doña Casilda Park in Bilbao during June 2022, the installation was accessible free of charge, allowing Thousands of visitors experience a unique proposal of art, emotional health and public space.
Mandala Lab It constitutes a model of ephemeral urban intervention that expands the limits of participatory art, fostering collective emotional awareness.
Its impact lies in the ability to bring about internal change from an external experience, elevating design to a tool for social and cultural well-being.
