Osaka Pavilion

He Spanish Pavilion for the Osaka World Expo 2025, built after winning the international competition organized by Spanish Cultural Action AC/E, next to Nestor Montenegro and Smart and Green Design, It is conceived as an architectural landscape inspired by the ocean and the sun, symbols shared between Spain and Japan..

Its design eschews monumentality to offer an open, welcoming, and permeable space, where the visit is experienced as a journey between light and marine immersion, between historical memory and the projection of sustainable futures.

Strategy

The architectural strategy is based on a clear premise: Turn architecture into a device for meeting, exchange, and international cultural projection.

Inspired by the current of Kuroshio and in the Mediterranean squares, the pavilion articulates a circular and enveloping route that combines open spaces of a social nature with an immersive exhibition narrative.

Conceived under a principle of total circularity, its modular, removable and reusable construction system It reduces the environmental footprint and facilitates the relocation or reintegration of each piece into new production cycles.

The pavilion not only makes visible the culture, innovation and territorial diversity of Spain in a global context, but also establishes a a benchmark in sustainability and circular construction within ephemeral architecture.

Its design, the result of collaboration between architects, artisans and companies specializing in recycling and waste management, demonstrates how a temporary intervention can leave a intangible legacy of institutional prestige, technical excellence and environmental commitment.
